Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 oz. red food coloring
2 1/4 cup plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbsp. cocoa
1 scant tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. vinegar
Preparation

Cream Crisco, sugar, and eggs. Make a paste of the food coloring and cocoa. Add to mixture. Add salt, flour, buttermilk and vanilla. Mix in but do not beat, the vinegar and soda. Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes. Frost with cream cheese frosting.
