Potato Salad Dressing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 egg, beaten
    3 Tbsp. sugar
    1 rounded tsp. cornstarch
    1 c. water
    4 Tbsp. vinegar
    3 tsp. mustard
    celery seed
    onion, diced
    salt and pepper
    celery, diced
    pickle, diced
Preparation
    Beat egg.
    Add sugar, water and cornstarch.
    Cook over low to medium heat until thickened.
    Add onion, salt and pepper to taste. Add mustard after the sauce is cooked and cooled.
    Add celery, pickle and other diced vegetables as desired.
    Pour over cooked, diced potatoes.
    I sometimes add crumbled, crisp, cooked bacon. Sprinkle with celery seed.
    Garnish with celery leaves.
    This keeps well for picnics since there is no mayonnaise in it.
