Favorite Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. round steak (1 1/2 to 2 inches thick)
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    1 can golden mushroom soup
    1 can water
    1/4 tsp. garlic powder
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    1 medium green pepper, sliced
    1 medium onion, sliced
Preparation
    Dredge meat in flour.
    Heat shortening in heavy skillet and brown meat on both sides.
    Combine soup, water, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
    Pour over meat.
    Top with onion and green pepper slices.
    Cover and simmer for about 2 hours or until tender.
    May also bake in oven.
