Cherokee Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. ground beef
    1 Tbsp. olive oil
    3/4 c. finely chopped onion
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    1/8 tsp. garlic powder
    1/8 tsp. thyme
    1/8 tsp. oregano
    1/2 small bay leaf
    1 lb. can tomatoes (rinse can using 1/2 c. water)
    1 can cream of mushroom soup
    1 c. instant onion
    6 stuffed olives, sliced
    2 or 3 slices American cheese, cut in 1/2-inch strips
Preparation
    Brown meat in olive oil; add onion and cook until tender. Stir in all other ingredients except 3 of the olives and the cheese.
    Use the ingredients in the order that they are listed. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and let simmer five minutes.
    Spoon into a baking dish and top with cheese.
    Broil until cheese melts and top with remaining olive slices.
    Double this if you want a large casserole as this only serves 6.
