Baked Red Cabbage - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. red cabbage
    2 strips bacon, cubed, or 1 Tbsp. oil
    1 onion, diced
    2 tart apples, peeled and sliced
    1 c. dry white wine
    salt and freshly ground pepper
    1 Tbsp. each: brown sugar and vinegar
Preparation
    Trim cabbage stem and cut off bruised leaves.
    Quarter cabbage and shred finely.
    Brown meat in large saucepan; add onions and apples.
    Add wine and bring to a boil.
    Add cabbage, salt, pepper and sugar.
    Mix, then bake at 350\u00b0, covered, until cabbage is tender, about 1 1/2 hours.
    Stir in vinegar.
    Serves 8.
