Apple Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening or margarine, melted
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
    3 medium apples
    1 c. sifted flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar
    and
    egg;
    beat
    well.
    Stir
    in apples which have been
    pared, cored and cut in thin slices or strips. Add nuts.
    Sift
    dry ingredients and blend with apple mixture. Bake in a 9 x 9-inch pan (greased) at 350\u00b0 for 40 to 50 minutes. Cut in squares.
    Serve plain or with ice cream.
