Lemon Spongettes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1 1/4 c. milk
    2 Tbsp. shortening
    juice and grated rind of 1 lemon
Preparation
    Cream the shortening, sugar and flour together.
    Add egg yolks, milk and flavoring.
    Mix.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Cook in cups in water about 40 minutes at 300\u00b0.
    May be doubled.
    May be cooked in one flat pan and cut into portions.
