Mom'S Strawberry Glaze Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. fresh strawberries
    1 c. water
    3/4 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. cornstarch
    few drops red food coloring
    1 baked (8-inch) pastry shell
Preparation
    Crush 1 cup of the smaller berries and cook with water about 2 minutes, then mash the berries.
    Combine the sugar and cornstarch; stir into the berry juice.
    Cook and stir until clear.
    Add the food coloring.
    Place 1/2 the remaining berries in the baked pastry shell.
    Pour half of the sauce over the berries.
    Repeat with the remaining berries and sauce.
    Chill for several hours until set.
    Serve with Cool Whip!
