Blackberry Jam Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    4 egg yolks
    3 c. flour
    2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. allspice
    2 c. blackberry jam
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. cloves
    2 tsp. cinnamon
    4 egg whites, beaten
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and well beaten egg yolks.
    Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add alternately with dry ingredients.
    Add jam and fold in egg whites.
    This makes 3 layers.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 about 30 minutes.
    Servings:
    about 12.
