Old-Fashioned Gingerbread - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. sugar
1 egg
1 c. molasses
2 1/2 c. plain flour
1 1/2 tsp. soda
1 tsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. hot water
Preparation

Combine shortening and sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and molasses, beating well.
Combine flour, soda, spices and salt; add to creamed mixture alternately with water, beating well after each addition.
Pour batter into greased 9-inch baking pan.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until done.
Cool in pan on rack. Yields 9 servings.
