Apple Butter - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. well-flavored apples stemmed and quartered
    2 c. cider or water
    sugar
    3 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
    1/2 tsp. ground allspice
Preparation
    Cook apples in cider or water until soft.
    Strain pulp. To each cup of pulp add 1/2 c. of sugar.
    Stir in remaining ingredients.
    Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until mixture sheets from spoon.
    Pour into hot, sterilized jars.
    Store in a cool dry place.
