Ingredients

3 lb. onions
1/2 c. margarine
1 1/2 tsp. fresh ground pepper
2 Tbsp. paprika
1 bay leaf (do not crumble)
3/4 c. flour
12 c. water
12 bouillon cubes
1 c. white wine
2 tsp. salt
1/2 lb. Swiss cheese slices
1 loaf French bread
Preparation

Slice onion 1/8-inch thick.
Melt margarine in large pot. Saute onions for 1 1/2 hours.
Add pepper, paprika, bay leaf and flour; cook over low heat for 10 minutes.
Add bouillon, water, wine and salt.
Darken with Kitchen Bouquet, if desired. Refrigerate overnight
