Holiday Fruit Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. soft shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    2 eggs
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. broken pecans
    2 c. candied cherries
    2 c. cut up dates
Preparation
    Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.
    Stir in buttermilk. Sift together flour, soda and salt.
    Mix dry ingredients with creamed mixture.
    Stir in pecans, cherries and cut up dates.
    Chill 1 hour.
    Drop rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet.
    Bake until set.
    Makes 7 dozen.
    Bake in 400\u00b0 oven 8 to 10 minutes.
