Mother'S Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. milk
    2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 doz. eggs
    whites of 6 eggs (of the doz.)
    yellow coloring
Preparation
    I beat the eggs (all but the 6 whites), sugar and vanilla; put in a large pan.
    I sit that in my roasting pan filled with water. I stir every few minutes.
    I cook it until it begins to thicken, about 2 hours or more.
    Beat 6 egg whites stiff and put them in custard.
    I take my hand mixer and beat the custard.
    When it gets cold it is ready to drink.
