Shoo-Fly Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 c. light brown sugar
4 c. flour
3/4 c. shortening
1 c. molasses (Grandma's)
1 c. boiling water
1/2 tsp. boiling water
Preparation

Mix flour, sugar and shortening together thoroughly.
Put aside 1 1/2 cups.
Mix molasses, boiling water and soda.
Stir crumbs into liquid mixture until all are in but the 1 1/2 cups set aside. Pour into two unbaked pie shells and sprinkle remaining crumbs on top.
Bake in 450\u00b0 oven for 10 minutes and then reduce heat to 325\u00b0.
Bake about 30 minutes.
Use either 2 deep dish pie shells or make up your own:
2 cups flour sifted with 1 teaspoon salt.
Cut in 3/4 cup shortening and work in 1/3 cup water.
Use 9-inch deep pie pan.
