Chicken Country Style - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. chicken (whole)
    1/2 c. flour
    2 tsp. salt
    6 Tbsp. butter
    6 medium size potatoes
    6 small onions
    6 large carrots
    2 large green peppers
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    2 1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
Preparation
    Mix 1/2 teaspoon salt with flour and roll chicken in mixture. Melt butter in frying pan and brown the chicken on all sides at high heat.
    Peel potatoes and onions.
    Scrape and quarter carrots lengthwise.
    Slice peppers in 1/2-inch strips.
    Mix remaining salt, sugar and pepper with tomatoes.
    Place 2/3 of vegetables in bottom of large pan.
    Place chicken on top and add remaining vegetables.
    Pour tomatoes and 3 cups boiling water over all. Cover tightly and bring to a boil.
    Reduce heat and let simmer until tender, approximately 1 1/2 hours.
