Ingredients

6 c. flour
4 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/3 c. sugar (granulated)
3/4 c. shortening
4 eggs
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Sift together flour and baking powder.
Mix sugar and shortening together.
Beat eggs, milk and vanilla; add to creamed mixture.
Knead dough until very smooth, about 15 minutes.
Cut dough into 10 pieces.
Roll each piece out to 1/4-inch thickness. Cut into strips, about 4-inches wide.
Fill with Fig Filling. Roll up and then cut into any design.
Bake 10 to 15 minutes at 300\u00b0 to 325\u00b0; they will turn light brown.
Spread on Icing, if desired.
Makes 6 dozen.
