Crunchy Walnut Pie - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    Flaky Pastry (for a single crust 9-inch pie)
    3 eggs
    1/2 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. each: ground cinnamon and vanilla
    1/4 c. butter or margarine, melted and cooled
    1 c. broken walnuts or walnut halves
    Whipped Hard Sauce (optional; recipe follows)
Preparation
    Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Roll out pastry and line a 1 1/2-inch deep 9-inch pie pan.
    In a bowl, beat eggs, sugar, corn syrup, salt, cinnamon, vanilla and butter until well blended, then stir in walnuts.
    Pour filling into pastry shell.
    Bake on lowest rack of oven until filling jiggles only slightly in center when pan is gently shaken (about 50 minutes).
    Place on a rack and let cool until slightly warm.
    Meanwhile, prepare Hard Sauce, if desired. Top each slice of pie with a dollop of sauce.
    Makes 6 to 8 servings.
