Caesar Salad De Provence - cooking recipe
Ingredients
-
1 loaf French bread of your choice
1 cube unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 rind aged cheese (parmesan, Romano or asiago)
1 Tbsp. Herbs de Provence (marjoram, thyme, rosemary, fennel, savory, basil and lavender; normally sold as a mix at most stores)
1/2 bulb fresh garlic, peeled into individual cloves
1-bunch fresh basil
Preparation
-
Preheat oven to 325. Cut loaf of French bread in half lengthwise (like for making garlic bread) then cut across loaf to make 1-1/2 inch strips.
Cut each strip to make 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 inch cubes.
Place the cubes onto a large cookie sheet or large square cake pan.
In blender or food processor, liquefy butter, olive oil, cheese, herbs, garlic and basil.
Pour liquid over bread cubes and VERY gently toss the bread to evenly distribute the liquid so the bread absorbs it evenly. Place in cookie sheet in oven for 10 minutes.
With spatula, toss the croutons to again distribute the liquid and evenly brown each cube.
When the edges of all croutons are browned, remove from oven and place in brown paper bag.
