Divinity(Never Fail) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. corn syrup
    2/3 c. water
    1/8 tsp. salt
    2 egg whites
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Cook sugar, syrup, salt and water together until a small amount forms a soft ball in water (soft ball on candy thermometer).
    Take out 1/2 cup of mixture and pour slowly over beaten egg whites (they should have been beaten until stiff); continue beating slowly while remaining syrup cooks to hard ball stage on candy thermometer.
    Beat rapidly while pouring remaining syrup over egg white mixture.
    When it begins to thicken, add nuts and vanilla and beat by hand until candy holds shape when dropped by spoon.
    Drop on waxed paper.
