Pierogi Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    10 to 12 potatoes, boiled and mashed with milk and butter
    3/4 lb. grated Cheddar cheese
    2 1/2 sticks margarine, melted (will be cooking onions in it)
    2 chopped onions
    1/2 lb. lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
    salt (optional)
Preparation
    Cook potatoes and mash, adding milk and butter as needed. Cook and drain lasagna noodles.
    Add cheese to potatoes and beat with mixer. Saute onions in butter until tender. Add 1/3 of the butter and onion mixture to potatoes.
    Add salt to taste.
    Butter a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Layer with 1/2 of the noodles, then 1/2 of the potatoes.
    Repeat, ending with noodles.
    Pour the remaining butter and onions over top of noodles.
    Cover with foil and bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
