Old Time Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    3/4 c. milk
    2 (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate or 3 Tbsp. cocoa
    dash of salt
    1 tsp. corn syrup
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Butter sides of heavy 2-quart saucepan.
    Combine sugar, milk, salt and corn syrup.
    Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly until sugar dissolves and chocolate melts to boiling.
    Then cook to soft ball stage (234\u00b0), stirring only if necessary. Immediately remove from heat.
    Add butter and cool to lukewarm (110\u00b0) without stirring.
    Add vanilla.
    Beat until fudge thickens and starts to lose its gloss; spread in buttered shallow pan.
