Mock Marzipan - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 lb. haricot beans
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    2 Tbsp. ground rice
    1 tsp. almond essence
    1 Tbsp. margarine
Preparation
    Soak the beans for 24 hours, then cook until tender in fresh, unsalted water.
    Put them on a tin in a warm oven to get dry and floury.
    Rub them through a sieve.
    Beat the sugar into the bean puree; add the ground rice, warmed margarine and, finally, the flavouring.
    Beat until smooth.
    Any flavouring or colouring matter may be added.
