Congo Squares - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 3/4 c. sifted flour
    2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. shortening
    1 whole pkg. brown sugar
    3 eggs
    1 c. nuts
    6 oz. pkg. semi-sweet chocolate bits
Preparation
    Melt brown sugar and shortening in top part of double boiler. Mix flour, baking powder and salt.
    Add to this the shortening and sugar mixture, then add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
    Next, add chocolate bits and nuts.
    Spread mixture in a 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 25 to 30 minutes.
