Punch Bowl Cake - cooking recipe

1 box yellow cake mix
2 cans cherry pie filling
1 large carton Cool Whip
1 large can crushed pineapple
1 box instant vanilla pudding
1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation

Bake cake in a sheet pan. When cool, break apart or cut in small squares. Place in the bottom of a punch bowl. Pour crushed pineapple (do not drain) over cake. Mix pudding and let set until thickened. Pour over pineapple. Pour pie filling over pudding. Cover with Cool Whip and sprinkle with nuts. Refrigerate until firm. Any favorite pie filling or fresh fruit in season may be used. Half the recipe fills a large mixing bowl.
