Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    25 large cucumbers
    12 onions, sliced
    1/2 c. salt
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. mustard seed
    2 Tbsp. ginger root
    2 Tbsp. celery seed
Preparation
    Place cucumbers in cold water until crisp.
    Wipe dry and slice. Add sliced onions and salt.
    Let stand 1 hour; do not drain.
    Add 1 quart vinegar and a little water. Boil sugar, mustard seed, ginger root and celery seed for 5 minutes.
    While hot, fill jars and seal.
