Horehound Candy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. dried horehound
    2 c. boiling water
    3 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
Preparation
    Make a strong infusion of 1/2 cup of dried horehound steeped in 2 cups boiling water in covered teapot.
    Strain after 10 minutes into a 6-quart saucepan.
    Add 3 cups sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar.
    Boil hard to tack stage, 300\u00b0.
    Pour into buttered pan. Make into squares before entirely hard to break when it can be handled.
    Sift powdered sugar over chunks to keep separate; store in tin box.
