Ice Cream - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (1/2 gal. size) carton whole milk
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    3 eggs
    1 Tbsp. vanilla flavoring (extract best)
    1 tsp. flour
    1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Heat 1/2 of milk over boiling water (double boiler). Meanwhile, cream eggs, sugar, flour and salt with beaters.
    When milk is scalding hot, add egg mixture after adding about a cup of hot milk to the bowl of eggs.
    Stir constantly until mixture thickens, then remove from heat.
    Add remaining uncooked milk and vanilla extract.
    Freeze in either old fashioned hand turned or electric ice cream freezer.
    Makes about a gallon of ice cream.
