Southern Raised Biscuits - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 tsp. yeast
    1/4 c. warm water
    2 c. buttermilk
    5 c. sifted flour
    little less than 1/2 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/4 tsp. salt
    1 c. shortening
Preparation
    Combine yeast and water; let stand 5 minutes.
    Add buttermilk (I warm buttermilk).
    Set aside.
    Mix dry ingredients.
    Add yeast and buttermilk.
    Mix and turn out on floured board.
    Knead 4 or 5 times.
    Roll 1/2-inch thick.
    Cut with round cutter.
    Bake at 450\u00b0 for 10 minutes.
