Quick Lye Soap - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 can lye
4 c. warm water
1/2 c. household ammonia
1 1/2 Tbsp. Borax
3 lb. (3 pt.) strained grease or tallow, melted (but not hot)

Preparation

Dissolve lye
and
warm
water\ttogether in enamel pan. Let cool.
Add\tammonia,
Borax
and grease.
Stir until thick with wooden spoon.
When
nearly cold, cut into blocks or pour into individual\tmolds.\tStore
in
cardboard
box
with cloth cover for 3 or 4 days before using.
