Thunder Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 c. shortening
1 3/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
3 eggs, separated
1 c. cold water
1/3 c. pureed tomatoes
2 1/2 c. cake flour
1/2 c. cocoa
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Preparation

Cream together shortening and sugar.
Add vanilla and cream together.
Add egg yolks.
Add water.
Add tomatoes.
Beat egg whites until stiff.
Fold into mixture.
