Garlic Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. cucumbers (chunks or sliced)
    4 onions
    2 sweet peppers
    2 cloves garlic (use whole bulbs)
    1/2 c. salt
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    1 1/2 tsp. mustard seed
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Put first 5 ingredients in layers and cover with ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours and then drain.
    Mix next 5 ingredients and pour over cucumber mixture.
    Let simmer until good and hot through. Put in jars and seal.
