Hortense'S Rolls(Serves 15) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    2/3 c. sugar
    2/3 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    1/4 c. water
    1/2 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    2 pkg. yeast
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    6 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix the first 4 ingredients together; heat to lukewarm.
    Let cool.
    Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup water.
    Add 1/2 teaspoon sugar to this mixture.
    When cool, mix yeast, eggs and flour (with soda and baking powder already added).
    Make out and let rise (about 3 hours in \"these air-conditioned houses,\" Hortense says).
    Bake in oven at 400\u00b0.
