Black Forest Trifle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (9 oz.) pkg. chocolate cake mix
    1/4 c. rum or brandy (optional)
    1 can cherry pie filling
    1 pkg. instant chocolate pudding
    8 oz. Cool Whip
Preparation
    Bake cake as directed.
    Cool; cut into cubes.
    Prepare pudding as directed on package.
    Arrange 1/2 of the cake cubes in glass bowl.
    Sprinkle cake in bowl with rum or brandy.
    Layer 1/2 pudding, 1/2 cherry pie filling and 1/2 Cool Whip.
    Repeat layering in order given.
    Chill for at least 3 hours before serving.
    Looks pretty in a tall stemmed bowl.
