Icebox Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cakes yeast or envelopes
    1 tsp. salt
    1 egg
    6 to 7 c. flour (rolls are better if dough is not too thick)
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 c. lukewarm water
    3 Tbsp. shortening (do not use oil)
Preparation
    Crumble yeast into large mixing bowl; add sugar, salt and water.
    Add well beaten egg.
    Sift flour once before measuring. Add one-half of flour and beat well.
    Add melted shortening and mix in remainder of flour.
    Punch down; cover tightly and place in refrigerator.
    Rolls are much better second and third days than on first day.
    Dough also works much easier if thoroughly chilled before using.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 to 375\u00b0 for 25 to 30 minutes or until light brown.
