Raw Apple Spice Cake With Browned Butter Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1/2 c. shortening
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. grated orange peel (optional)
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. soda
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
3 c. grated raw tart apples
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/2 c. raisins, rinsed and drained (optional)

Preparation

Cream shortening, sugar, eggs, vanilla and orange peel, mixing well.
Sift flour with spices and soda and add to creamed mixture. Add apples, nuts and raisins.
Spread into greased and lightly floured 13 x 9-inch pan.
Bake 35 to 40 minutes at 350\u00b0.
