Soft Oatmeal Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/4 c. (2 1/2 sticks) margarine, softened
    3/4 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
    1/2 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
    1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
    3 c. oatmeal
Preparation
    Heat oven to 375\u00b0.
    Beat margarine and sugar until creamy. Add combined flour, baking soda, salt and spices.
    Mix well.
    Add egg and vanilla.
    Stir in oats.
    Drop by rounded tablespoons on ungreased cookie sheet, 8 to 9 minutes for chewy cookie; 10 to 11 minutes for crisp cookie.
    Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
