Ingredients

2 c. sugar
1 c. butter
1 c. sour cream
3 eggs
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
5 to 5 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation

Cream sugar and butter.
Stir in eggs, one at a time.
Beat well.
Add dry ingredients with cream.
Mix well.
Chill.
Form into large balls.
Drop in pan with granulated sugar; coat well. Shape with bottom of cup or glass.
Be sure and keep dough chilled.
This is the secret, not to roll the dough.
Bake in a 350\u00b0 oven for 12 to 15 minutes.
Yields 6 dozen.
