Tea Scones - cooking recipe
Ingredients

3 c. sifted flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
3/4 c. currants
1 c. buttermilk
1/4 c. light cream (to brush on top)
Preparation

In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, soda and salt.
With pastry blender, cut butter into the flour mixture. Add currants.
Gradually add the buttermilk until the dough clings together.
Turn dough onto lightly floured board.
Pat or roll into a round shape, 1/2-inch high.
Cut with 2-inch biscuit cutter.
Place on greased or ungreased cookie sheet.
Brush tops with cream.
Bake for 15 minutes in a 450\u00b0 oven.
Serve warm. Makes 18.
