German Sweet Chocolate Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. Crisco
    4 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 pkg. German sweet chocolate
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Heat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Dissolve chocolate in 1/2 cup boiling water.
    Beat egg whites stiff.
    Cream sugar, Crisco, egg yolks and salt.
    Add 3/4 cup buttermilk alternately with flour.
    Dissolve soda in remaining buttermilk.
    Add with the chocolate and vanilla. Fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in 3 layers at 350\u00b0 until cake barely springs back to touch.
