Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    6 Tbsp. water
    1 c. slivered almonds
    2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Place all ingredients in heavy saucepan.
    Bring to a boil. Cover and cook for 3 minutes.
    Uncover and continue to cook, leaving spoon in.
    Cook until candy thermometer reaches 300\u00b0. Pour into greased cookie sheet.
    Freeze.
    Break into serving pieces when cold.
