Hearty Sausage And Vegetable Pot(A Hearty One-Dish Dinner) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 slices bacon, coarsely diced
    2 c. diced onion
    2 stalks celery, chopped
    1 1/2 to 2 lb. smoked beef sausage, cut into 3/4-inch thick slices
    4 c. water
    1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
    1/2 tsp. black peppercorns, crushed
    1/4 tsp. salt
    4 to 5 medium carrots, coarsely sliced
    2 medium parsnips, peeled and coarsely sliced
    1 large turnip, peeled and coarsely cubed
    4 to 5 medium boiling potatoes, peeled and cut into eighths
    1 small head cabbage, cored and cut into 5 or 6 wedges
    salt and pepper
    parsley
Preparation
    Brown bacon in 4-quart saucepan.
    Add onion and celery and cook several minutes.
    Stir in sausage, water, parsley, peppercorns and salt.
    Simmer for 30 minutes.
    Add carrots, parsnips, rutabaga and potatoes.
    Cover and simmer 20 minutes.
    Arrange cabbage wedges over top, cover and cook until cabbage is tender, about 15 minutes. Lightly season cabbage with salt and pepper.
    Sprinkle top with minced fresh parsley.
    Serve immediately.
