Belgian Beef - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/4 c. salad oil
    2 lb. beef round, in 1-inch cubes
    2 medium onions, sliced thin
    1/8 tsp. nutmeg
    sprig of parsley
    1/4 tsp. dried oregano
    6 to 8 (2-inch) bread squares, spread with dry mustard
    2 tsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. vinegar
    1/4 c. flour
    1 1/2 c. hot water
    1 c. beer
    1 clove garlic, minced
    1 bay leaf
Preparation
    Heat 2 tablespoons salad oil in a large skillet. Brown beef, a few pieces at a time. Brown quickly and remove from pan. Add 2 tablespoons salad oil and onions. Brown well.
    Stir in remaining ingredients, except bread.
    Mix with beef in skillet and bring to a boil.
    Place in 2 to 2 1/2-quart casserole.
    Cover and bake at 325\u00b0 until beef is tender.
