Pumpkin Chip Preserves - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sliced pumpkin
    2 c. sugar
    1 lemon
    1 stick cinnamon
    1 tsp. whole cloves
    1 c. water
Preparation
    Cut slices from a fine high colored pumpkin.
    Peel and cut slices into thin chips.
    Of the pumpkin, take 2 cups and put into a large pan, laying 2 cups of sugar over this.
    Add 1 lemon (sliced thin) and let set all night.
    Early in the morning, put all of it into a preserving pan.
    Add the stick of cinnamon, cloves and water.
    Boil all together until the chips are clear and the syrup ???.
    Boil for 1/2 hour or 45 minutes.
    Seal in sterilized jars. Makes 2 half-pints.
