Fagioli En Salsa(Green Beans In Tomato Sauce) - cooking recipe

3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 c. onions, chopped
1 clove garlic, minced
1 (No. 2 1/2) can Italian tomatoes
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/2 tsp. oregano
2 lb. green beans
1 bay leaf
Preparation

Heat the oil in a saucepan.
Add the onions and garlic; saute until soft, but not browned, about 5 minutes. Stir in the tomatoes (a No. 2 1/2 can is 3 1/2 cups), salt, pepper, oregano and bay leaf.
Bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer for 30 minutes.
Cut the beans in halves crosswise and add them.
(Use two packages frozen, if you wish.)
Cover and simmer for about 40 minutes or until beans are tender.
Transfer to a deep serving dish.
