Bread Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    9 slices white bread
    1 1/4 c. sugar
    1 tall can evaporated milk
    2 c. milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg yolks
    1/3 c. butter, melted
    4 egg whites
    raisins or pecans
Preparation
    Break bread into a baking dish in small pieces.
    In bowl mix 1 cup sugar, milk, vanilla, egg yolks and butter and pour over bread in 10 x 8 x 2-inch dish.
    Bake in preheated oven at 450\u00b0 for 15 minutes.
    Remove and make meringue.
    Beat egg whites with 1/4 cup sugar until stiff.
    Cover pudding with meringue and rebake for 2 to 4 minutes, until meringue is golden brown.
    Serves 12.
