Pound Cake - cooking recipe
Ingredients

4 or 5 eggs, separated
1 stick butter
1/2 c. Crisco
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tsp. almond extract
3 c. Presto cake flour, sifted 3 or 4 times
1/2 c. orange juice
orange or lemon rind
Preparation

Preheat oven to 375\u00b0.
Grease and flour a 9-inch tube pan. Blend butter, Crisco and sugar.
Add egg yolks and beat until frothy.
Add the almond extract.
In three additions, add the flour alternately with the orange juice.
Add the orange or lemon rind.
Beat egg whites until stiff and gently fold into the batter.
Bake for 50 minutes or until a cake tester comes out dry. Cool in pan for 10 minutes.
Turn out on rack to finish cooling.
