Old Fashioned Custard - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 gal. milk
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
    12 eggs
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Mix salt, sugar and flour; add to milk.
    Cook over medium heat until scalded.
    Add beaten eggs and cook until it coats a metal spoon.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Cool quickly by placing pan in a sink full of cold water.
    (I only use the yolks and save the whites to beat and add before serving.)
