Sally'S Jelly Roll Or Ice Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 egg yolks
    4 egg whites
    1 c. sugar, divided
    3 Tbsp. cold water
    1 c. flour less 1 1/2 Tbsp.
    1 1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Beat egg whites stiff, but not dry.
    Beat in 1/2 cup sugar and set aside.
    Beat egg yolks with water until thick and add 1/2 cup sugar.
    Combine mixtures.
    Mix and sift dry ingredients.
    Fold into egg mixture.
    Line jelly roll pan with waxed paper and grease well.
    Bake 15 minutes at 350\u00b0.
    Turn onto a sugared dish towel. Spread with jam and roll immediately.
    If using ice cream, roll immediately in towel and let cake cool.
    Unroll gently; fill with softened ice cream and carefully roll.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar from the sifter.
