Potato Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large potatoes
    1 onion, chopped fine
    4 Tbsp. flour
    2 Tbsp. butter or lard
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Dice the potatoes and cook with onion in salted water until soft.
    Brown the flour and shortening in a heavy frying pan, stirring well until browned.
    Bring the potatoes and water to a boil; then stir in the browned flour and boil until it thickens. Water can be drained from the potatoes and milk may be used instead.
